About Paul Eckel
Six weeks after graduating from High School I was in Navy boot camp at Great Lakes Illinois. During the next 20 years I cruised around South America by way of the Panama Canal and the Strait of Magellan twice, deployed to the Mediterranean four times, Northern Europe once, and made more training and work-ups trips to the Caribbean than I can count. During the first 10 years as an enlisted Gun Fire Control Technician (FTG) I promoted from E-1 to E-7 before being commissioned an Electronics Tech Limited Duty Officer. Aboard two Frigates, a Destroyer, a Cruiser and USS Dwight D.
